Introduction to Fashion Class

The students in Mrs. Gwendolyn Wilson’s Introduction to Fashion Careers Class used the skills learned in class to participate in fashion related projects outside of class. Mrs. Wilson partnered the class with her business partners and her fashion design company, ETAMIB Couture International to create unique learning experiences for the class.

The Introduction to Fashion Careers students created their own custom fabric. They used the fabric to create their own custom clothing line, Kings, Queens, Dreams. Their motto is, “Educated Minds Changing The World”. Their clothing line was shown in New York City during New York Fashion Week. The students received local, national and international press coverage during New York Fashion week. The students created evening gown designs that have been shown in Paris France, the Bahamas, and in Dubai.

They had swimwear designs shown at fashion events at the Villa Casa Casuarina the mansion of the late fashion designer Gianni Versace. The students also had two gowns displayed at the 2019 Met Gala, Camp Notes on Fashion.

The students also learned how to illustrate clothing designs, create fashion story boards, make clothing patterns, drape fabric and many other skills. They were exposed to the business side of the fashion industry and explored various fashion careers.
