Our very own School Resource Officer, MPO C. Grant was recognized by the Suffolk Police Department as part of their Black History Month celebration.  Read all about MPO Grant below.  We are extremely lucky and proud to have Officer Grant as part of our Bulldog Family!

MPO Grant  joined the Suffolk Police Department on April 16, 1999 and graduated from the Chesapeake Public Safety Academy; Sergeant at Arms.  As a Patrol Officer he attended various specialty schools to include radar/lidar operator General Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor. In 2005 MPO Grant was assigned to the Special Operations Division where he continued his career as he was promoted to the rank of Master Police Officer in 2008.  While In Special Operations MPO Grant has attended various specialty schools to include D.A.R.E instructor (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) which he taught at 13 Suffolk elementary schools.  G.R.E.A.T Instructor (Gang Resistance Education and Training) which he taught at Suffolk middle schools throughout the city.  He is also a certified SRO (School Resource Officer). During which time he was also trained as a Suicide prevention instructor, and a CIT Officer (Crisis Intervention Training).

He is also the first African American to be certified as a Motorcycle Officer for the city of Suffolk. During this duty he has been a part of several presidential escorts throughout Hampton Roads.   MPO Grant is also a certified boat operator, and a Master SWAT operator. As a senior SWAT operator MPO Grant is one of three certified explosive breachers for the Suffolk Police Department.

He currently is assigned and based out of Kings Fork High School as the school resource officer. Were he also serves as the resource officer for Oakland Elementary and Hillpoint Elementary.   ‚Äč

MPO Grant has received several Departmental Commendations and awards while at the Suffolk Police Department. He was recently awarded the 2020 Mentor award by Suffolk Parks and Rec for his work at Kings Fork High School.

MPO Grant has also served in the United States Army prior to joining the Suffolk Police Department. Receiving several awards during his tour of duty.
