National Principals' Month

In honor of National Principals Month, we would like to take a moment to thank and spotlight our very own fearless leader, Mr. Derrick Bryant. Mr. Bryant is in his first full year as the Principal of King’s Fork High School. Prior to being a principal, he was an assistant principal, a Career and Technical Careers (CTE) teacher and a boy’s basketball coach.

Mr. Bryant is married to his wife, also an educator,  of fourteen years and they have two sons, Derrick Jr. (14) and Dylan (10). He is an avid fan of both  basketball and soccer. His passions don’t just stop at family and sports, he’s a self-proclaimed saltwater aquarium fanatic and has a 300 gallon aquarium at home. In his spare time, he’s most happy when tinkering and fixing things and spending time hanging out with his two sons.

An interesting little bit of trivia about Mr. Bryant is that his life prior to education took him across the globe as a professional basketball player. He spent 10 years playing basketball and living overseas in Iceland, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina and the Dominican Republic.

Mr. Bryant is leading KFHS while keeping his three most important qualities at the forefront: empathy, patience, and flexibility. When asked what he loved most about his job, he responded,

“First, I love being able to impact the students in a positive manner.  At the high school level, it is great to see students come in as freshmen and grow up into productive young men and women.  Secondly, I really love the inconsistency of the job.  Looking forward to something different keeps my day interesting.”

We’d like to let  Mr. Bryant know just how much we appreciate and value him here at KFHS with a huge BULLDOG THANK YOU! WOOF WOOF!
