KFHS has been celebrating the Month of the Military child with a special spirit week and ribbon cutting ceremony. Today, the band played, and XO Michael Mejia, was promoted to Lieutenant during the ceremony. CO Alana Givers Wilson gave remarks as well as Principal, Derrick Bryant, SCPO Twitty (Ret.) and Capt. Butts (Ret.). Asst. Principal, Dr. Tonya Spruill gave the invocation. KFHS is proud to be a Purple Star School.
The Purple Star School program designates schools that show a major commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families through the educational and social-emotional challenges of relocation. Schools must have a staff point of contact, specialized training, and dedicated resources to support student transitions, addressing challenges faced by active duty, Reserve, and National Guard families.
The U.S. Fleet Navy Band visited campus and performed during lunches. This has become an annual spring time event and is enjoyed by staff and students alike!

On Friday, December 19th, King's Fork High School's International Baccalaureate students, over 60 in number, united for an exciting day filled with team-building, celebration, and fun! Led by student leaders from Ms. Havlin's Creativity, Activity, and Service class, the day featured a range of engaging, intercohort activities such as a gingerbread house building competition, insanity team play, a volleyball tournament, expert experience roundtables, board games, and a family recipe breakfast/lunch potluck.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and made the day memorable. Don’t miss our Spring 2026 IB Day on Thursday, April 2nd, where we’ll be partnering with the Community Division of Suffolk City for a special service day. We are KFHS IB!

Kings Fork High School made history at the Virginia Girls Wrestling State Championships as Hayden Mayo (Senior) and Akaila Gray (Sophomore) both captured STATE TITLES in their respective weight classes!
Hayden closed out her senior season the right way; on top of the podium. All year long she trained with purpose, pushed through adversity, and competed with confidence. Early mornings. Tough practices. Hard matches. She never backed down from the work, and today it paid off in the biggest way possible. A senior season to remember forever.
Akaila Gray proved that greatness has no age limit. As a sophomore, she wrestled with poise beyond her years. She committed herself to improvement every single day. Extra drilling, conditioning, film study, and believing in herself when it mattered most. Her dedication showed all season, and today she finished the job as a STATE CHAMPION.
With these victories, Kings Fork is bringing home two state champions, making Hayden and Akayla the 2nd and 3rd girls state champions in school history and Suffolk City history. That’s legacy. That’s standard-setting. That’s what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
We are beyond proud of the work, the discipline, and the heart these young women showed all season long. Kings Fork Wrestling continues to raise the bar.
Two Champions.
One Standard.

Holidays at KFHS
Recently 42 King's Fork High School French students joined Dr. Melvin, Ms Havlin and Ms Seavey on a trip to the Muscarelle Museum of Art at William and Mary. There they explored a specially curated exhibit about Toussaint L'Ouverture, the Haitian General who orchestrated their independence, in screenprints by Jacob Lawrence, the American artist who was inspired by his story in the 1930s. The guided tour was given by William and Mary student and Suffolk native, Faith Page. The students found inspiration in the art and the mouvement, and told their own stories in art with Mr. Steve Prince, artist in residence at the Muscarelle. A delicious French-inspired lunch was provided by The Bake Shop Williamsburg. Nous vous les recommandons!

KFHS NJROTC held a remembrance ceremony at the flag pole this morning in recognition and thanksgiving for the brave first responders and all those who lost their lives on 9/11/01. Our cadets, though not born when the tragic events of that day occurred, are reminded of the importance of service and will go on to serve as members of the armed forces, first responders, doctors, manufacturers, caregivers and many other fields. We thank Capt. Butts (Ret.) and SCPO Twitty(Ret.) for their example to our young people. #neverforget #NJROTC
New Artists in the Studio!
Mrs. Rhodes’ Art 1 students kicked off the year by creating beautiful monoprints during their first week back. Their work turned out amazing, and we can’t wait to see what they create next!
First lab of the year! Chemistry students used graphical analysis of data they collected to determine the density of water.
The class of 2026 kicked off the new year with a Senior Sunrise celebration. Members of the senior class met on the football field before school on their last-first day of school for breakfast and fellowship. An awesome start to the new year. We know they will do great things!
