The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. (FCCLA) is the student organization designed to promote personal growth and leadership development through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career and technical education preparation.
Chapter projects focus on a variety of youth concerns, including school violence, teen pregnancy, parenting, family relations, community service, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, and career exploration.
Any student, through grade twelve, who is taking or has taken a course in family and consumer sciences is eligible to belong to FCCLA. In Virginia, over 12,000 students, in nearly 250 chapters, are members of this exciting organization. Involvement in FCCLA offers them the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life - planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal communication - necessary in the home and workplace.
