       AP Literature/Composition Syllabus

 

       Class Rules/Grading Scale

Pre-requisite—”B” or better in English 11 or Honors English 11 or AP Language and Composition

Credit—One (weighted +1)

Overview:  Students in this class will be challenged to think critically, to synthesize literature, and to write effectively.  The course will emphasize British literature, but will include literary works from many countries.  In addition, information concerning cultural, historical, philosophical, and psychological backgrounds will be addressed.  The genres will include epics, dramas, novels, and a major focus on poetry.  Students can earn college credit for this course by scoring from 3 to 5 on the College Board Examination.

3.   Group discussion of “meaning” of various elements found in “Barn Burning.”
