Hello,

My name is Wendy Booden. I am your or your child’s eleventh grade English Teacher here at King’s Fork High School. Here is a little bit of information about me for all of those who wish to know more about who I am.

Education:

I started my educational experience at Deep Creek High School where I graduated in 1991.  My professional educational experience began at Tidewater Community College where I earned an Associates Degree in Social Science. I then enrolled at Virginia Wesleyan College and received my Bachelor's Degree in English. When I realized that teaching was my passion, I applied to Old Dominion University and received my Certification in Education. I plan to continue my education in the future to eventually receive my Master’s in English.

Family:

I am happily married to Andrew Booden, a Norfolk Police Sergeant. We have two beautiful boys and a dog. My eldest son, Carey, is eight years old. Carey is a sweet, charming, and good-natured child. My youngest son, Seth, is an adventurous, out-going, and very busy five year old.  I feel very lucky and fortunate to have such a wonderful family. Our beautiful golden retriever, Sadie, is a new addition to our family and we couldn’t imagine our lives without her.

Hobbies and Interest:

My hobbies, yes teachers do have hobbies, consist of photography, reading, camping/hiking, and being with my friends and family.  I love to take my camera everywhere I go. You never know when you just may happen upon a great picture. My favorite subjects to photograph are my kids, of course, and nature.  I love to take pictures of wild animals and landscapes, such as mountains, lakes, and beaches.

I enjoy reading almost any kind of novel, story, or magazine.  I just love to read and learn new information about new things.  One of my favorite authors is William Shakespeare.  “Much Ado about Nothing” is my favorite play.  I also love the quote from the play “Hamlet” that says, “To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man" because sometimes it is so hard to be true to yourself.  I am also fascinated by the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rawlings. I am a true fan of her books because she is a remarkable talent of telling a story where people of all ages can enjoy it.
