Mr. Ward is a native of Buena Vista, VA. He received his undergraduate degree from James Madison University and his Masters degree from Mr. Jefferson's Academic Village in Charlottesville.
He began his career in education in 1976 and has worked as a teacher and principal for the last 28 years. His last assignment was principal of Dinwiddie High School from 1992-2003. During his tenure at Dinwiddie High School, he lead an eight million dollar renovation of the facility and oversaw the academic gains that resulted in full accreditation status.
The most cherished award he has received during his professional career is the 1983 Monticello Area Community Action Committee Award for his work with minority youth.
